Official Partner of Paris Photo since 2011, Giorgio Armani presents the 5th edition of the ACQUA by Giorgio Armani exhibition, the annual display dedicated to the theme of water in photography: ACQUA #5.
ACQUA #5 examines the notion of limits in the representation of water. The limit as a surface, both impenetrable and moving as in the work of Debra Bloomfield or water performing the limiting function of a second skin, as depicted by Joel Meyerovitz. Water is seen as agitated to its limits in the work of Trent Parke, and at the limits of the earth in the nebulous sky of Facundo de Zuviria.
However, ACQUA #5 also poses questions about the photographic limitations of the representation of water, as explored in the photographic and sculptural installations of Graciela Sacco and the experimentations on photographic paper of Alison Rossiter.
Water has always been integral to Giorgio Armani’s designs, and since 2009, it has also been a personal social priority for the designer, who initiated “Acqua for Life™” charity campaign to deliver clean drinking water to communities in need of access to it. The most recent campaign collected millions of liters of drinking water to support Green Cross International (UNICEF in the United States) and its programs in several countries.
Exhibition presented on the 1st floor in the Salon d’Honneur at the Grand Palais.
The artworks exhibited have been chosen by Giorgio Armani amongst the Paris Photo 2014 galleries.
The ACQUA #5 exhibit will present artworks by: Debra Bloomfield, Graciela Sacco, Facundo de Zuviria, RongRong&inri, Joann Verburg, Trent Parke, Alison Rossiter, Joel Meyerovitz.

Introducing the newly opened concept store in Istanbul that houses the Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, EA7, Armani Jeans and Armani Junior lines extending over six floors.
Giorgio Armani has said: ‘I am very proud of this opening because it represents an important step in my brand's expansion strategy, which is focusing on international world cities: as a transcontinental city, straddling Europe and Asia, Istanbul is, of course, truly cosmopolitan. The new shops within the concept store, including the first in the city dedicated to Giorgio Armani collections, follow a principle of integration and harmony while retaining recognisable, distinctive features that belong to the individual brands. I wanted the whole space to embody the articulated consistency of my world, particularly visually.’

How often do you train and what is your typical workout routine like?
I train every day, about 25 hours a week. I basically only stop for a two-week holiday in May. When I'm not skiing, my workout usually consists of physical and athletic training in the gym both in the morning and afternoon. There are times where I work on building my strength, others – my agility. I also alternate between bike rides (70/80 km) and mountain hiking. As for the winter season, I train in the snow in the morning, and continue with muscular recall workouts in the gym ending with bike exercises in the afternoon.
What special diet do you follow while training for a major competition?
I don't follow any specific diet, but I do pay attention to what I eat. I usually eat oatmeal, dark bread, lots of cereal, muesli and yoghurt for breakfast, carbohydrates and salad for lunch, and meat with mixed vegetables for dinner.
What would you say is the biggest challenge you face when training?
When I train, I always do it with great determination because I think that every little detail must be perfect. I don't grow tired of exercising, I realize it is part of my job. That is my challenge. I always want to be ready at the starting gate. No regrets. If I have done all that I could to be prepared, I know that I will give 110 %, I will give my everything. I manage to have fun while I race, and that is why victory comes easier.
What made you decide to become an alpine ski racer?
It is thanks to my parents. I live in Gais, in Valle Aurina, and the Speikboden slopes are only a few kilometers away from my home. When I was little, about 3 years old, my mother and father first introduced me to skiing. When I was 10/11 years old I realized that I had an affinity for the sport and then the toughest years followed, as I was always one of the smallest ones. When I reached 16/17 I was more or less the same as my peers physically. Then year by year I improved, taking one step after the other: Committee, Sports Group, Team C, Team B, then Team A. It was a long way up and I only stopped once for a year due to an injury.
What do you love most about downhill skiing?
I love the adrenaline rush that speed gives you, and I also like grazing the curves. On more technical slopes I express myself better and push my own limits. I also really enjoy always being in contact with nature.
If you hadn’t become a professional skier, what would you have liked to pursue?
I often ask myself that. I don’t know what I would have done. I am very interested in the economy and the stock market. Maybe I would have studied economics and pursued a career in that field. But for now, I can certainly say that I love what I do and have fun doing it.
What do you look for specifically when choosing your ski equipment?
I like to be able to have my say when it comes to choosing materials. I am very selective when it comes to details, so I dedicate a lot of time to testing out the materials. For example, I really enjoy the EA7 ski line of which I am an ambassador. The technical materials are excellent and feel like a second skin. Comfortable, warm, snow and water resistant.
